Health Care
I do not believe that the Federal government has a one-sized fits all solution to our health care problems. We have the best health care service in the world, we also have a very expensive health care system so our goal is to drive down the cost, not limit the access to quality health care.
The current health care scheme is not dealing with the problem of health care costs. John Tierney and other proponents of Government Run health care pretend that the federal government will be fair in the health care industry. But how can the politicians in Washington be fair when they control our tax rates? As we know, what’s ‘fair’ to the DC bureaucrats is often not fair to the middle class.
Government choice is not much of a choice at all because it will eliminate competition leaving us with only one single-payer system where bureaucrats make the decisions instead of doctors.. Our health is too important to let the government run it, we need to return to putting Americans back in charge of their health care decisions.
We need to
- Focus on ways to reduce costs which doctors incur because of excess government regulations, which will reduce the costs of delivering care and allow insurance rates to drop.
- Give Americans freedom of choice to buy plans that meet their needs
- Allow people to buy health care plans across state lines
- Allow Americans to join larger insurance cooperatives and associations to derive the cost benefits afforded to people who are insured through large corporations.
- Reform tort laws so doctors are not burdened with costly lawsuits that increase the cost of health care.
